By Old Style It came with a little dent, went to together in about 10 min. but i would not recommend, the glass feels like it will break when you put anything on it. The coffee table itself just doesn't seem well made. The legs and frame don't line up perfectly so there are gaps where the legs are attached to the table. Good looking tv console By Seymoreholes This TV console exceeded my expectations with how it looks and the sturdiness however the finish is literally paper thin. If you look at it the wrong way it will scratch and show very light color wood underneath. To deal with this I purchased a brown felt tip marker and it seems to hide the blemishes from the naked eye. For the price I would still buy this again. As long as you aren't expecting solid wood you can't go wrong. I even have 2 small children that like to abuse furniture. The assembly wasn't bad, took about 1 hour and everything fit together snugly. I had to add a fan to one of the cabinets that I keep my HTPC in to keep things cool but being that the backing is wood and not cardboard this was easily accomplished with a jigsaw and a dremel. Really Poor Quality and Cheap Materials By Rem P. I've been an Amazon customer for years and this is my first review of a product. I dont write reviews because I'm almost always happy with my purchases because I do my research before buying. This product was so poor, I just had to write a review. Unfortunately for me, there weren't enough reviews of this item to warn me about its poor quality. In retrospect, I would have expected a better product for the price of this item.The BadThis piece of furniture looks really nice in pictures but its really low quality stuff. I would rate this lower in quality than IKEA items. The entire product is laminated composite (pressed) wood material. That in itself is not a bad thing but the pressed wood for this item is softer that other pieces of pressed wood furniture I've dealt with in the past. Therefore, it crumbles easily in the corners and tend to crack or break easier that other similar wood products. What makes this product worthless is the laminate on the wood. The laminate is ultra thin. Over the years, I've dealt with all sorts of laminated wood furniture products but I've never had a product with lamination this thin. It so thin that it chips or peels with ease even when you are careful. You could literally peel the laminate off with your finger nails without too much effort. For example, it chipped while I was moving the DVD player in the shelf - the feet of the player with soft felt like stuff is what rubbed off the laminate. Also, one long piece that runs under the top board came shipped with a chip in it that had already peeled back. The other issue I had with this item was that the pre-drilled holes for the drawer handle on the board that makes up the front of the drawer didn't match the spacing on the handle. I had to use a drill to make the holes on the board larger in order to fit the handle. Also, the board that makes up top of the furniture had a 3 inch crack under the lamination but it didn't make it through to the surface. This wasn't a huge deal to me since I was going to place my AV receiver on top which would cover up that spot. Again, this lends to poor overall quality of this product. The GoodI called the customer service number and they were very professional and courteous. I told them about the one piece that game damaged and they said they would ship me a replacement part in a couple of days via FedEx. The original box was packaged really well. On top, its seems Amazon did a fantastic job putting an outer layer of packaging to protect it during shipping. The instructions were clear but I can see people having issues with some of it. All the parts were neatly packaged and some of the parts had extra pieces in case you lost some while assembling it.SummaryOverall, I'm really disappointed with this product. It looked like top notch stuff but it turned out to made of really cheap materials. Combs I purchased the Narita Corner TV Stand (made by Southern Enterprises, Inc., model MS987100TX) through Amazon.com from totally Furniture on Feb 8, 2009. The stand was purchased to hold a Sony 46 Inch, Z Series LCD television, with the intent of using the inner storage space for components (Combination DVD Recorder/Player/VCR, and future Blue Ray Recorder/Player, along with media) The space is ample for those purposes. I am using little woven baskets inside the cabinet to hold the media on the shelves, which is working out well. The material of the cabinet is man-made "engineered" wood product, of extremely high quality. It looks virtually like fine wood, and is solid (not veneered) construction. It has anchors pre-installed from the factory that receive the Allen screws. The fit and finish of all pieces is excellent. The cabinet requires about 2 hours to assemble, taking your time, to get everything perfect. When completed, you cannot tell it was assembled, and looks like it was purchased in any fine furniture store. It is very strong, sturdy, very heavy. This tand would easily handle a 50 inch flat screen TV, or even larger, so far as weight goes, and the overhang would not be noticable, since it is a corner TV stand. (But could be used for a regular wall, and is finshed on the back) The design and construction of this product is remarkable, and will meet most people's expectations. One thing that I had not thought about was how the wood cross-hatch design of the doors would affect signals from the IR Remotes to the components inside, with the doors closed. This has turned out not to be a problem, and the components work fine with the doors closed. (Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder with VCR combo) Side note. One piec was damaged when I performed assembly. (Cam-lock piece that holds the top in place on one corner) I requested a replacement from SEI thorugh their e-mail address for support on lost, missing or broken parts, but never received a reply. It was not a critical component, and doesn't show (it's only to secure the top, which is also secured by other fasteners), so I dropped the matter. If you buy this stand, be careful not to use too much force on the Cam-lock part. It is rather soft pot-metal, and will easily bend instead of going properly into place. That was my problem. Glenn C. The firebox had an issue when first plugged in, the heater blower sounded like a sneaker in dryer (clunk, clunk). We took off the back panel and discovered that through shipping a metal plate had fallen unto a rotating piece. We pushed it back into place and the unit is working just fine. Nice Console .... but By Pot Frog Awakening This is a nicely designed console. It fits perfectly in the corner where I installed it and it looks good. But there are some negative issues as well. The console arrives complely unassembled. Mine arrived with some damage. I contaced customer service and they were helpful but I decided to repair the damage myself rather than to pack it all up again and return it. Assembly is not all that easy. A number of the pre-drilled holes were way to small to hand screw into unless you are a professional body builder. So I had to re-drill many of the screw holes. The assembly instructions are pretty good but the print is very small and difficult to read. The burner unit arrives seperately. The manual specifies / suggests a dedicated electrical circuit, so for safety's sake I installed a new circuit. I already had a proper breaker, room in my panel, wire and outlet box. so it didn't cost me anything but time. If you can't do this yourself it might add a couple hunderd dollars to your costs to hire an electrician and to buy the necessary components. I'm fairly handy and this not my first rodeo but it took me about 5 hours to complete this project. One more thing, the packing material flaked apart and made a big mess that was unavoidable no matter how carefull I was to not make a mess. Nice piece of furniture that adds atmosphere and heat for low price By Met This was my 1st time ordering thru Amazon and my experience was rewarding. I was a little worried about ordering something on line without actually seeing it, pictures don't always give the proper representation of the product that is displayed. With that said, I am very pleased with the Electric fireplace that I recieved, it came in two boxes (one being the wooden console and the other the fireplace insert)and the UPS agent brought right into the house for me. Now a couple of hints that will make the assembly easier: When you open the box, have a vacumm cleaner near by to remove the styrofoam from the items, due to static, the styrofoam is difficult to remove from the wood, but the vacumm will make cleanup easier as you remove from the packing. Inventory your parts and check off the paper as you locate them and then spread them out for easy recognition. Before you start assembling, spread a blanket on the floor to eliminate potential scratching, then follow the step by step instructions and take your time. Took approx 2.5 hours to assemble, this included removing stickers after the items were assembled (leave stickers on until assembled), the cam locks require a #2 phillips screwdriver, but I suggest using a #2 flat screwdriver to get the cams tight, then go back with the phillips to break the edges of the slots, this will allow the cover caps to be inserted into the cam. I utilized the corner shelf on the back of the console, so it would fit in the corner of the room and it is mounted on hinges, so if you want to eventually put it on a wall the shelf will just fold down. By Leif Sheppard Over the past year I've discovered that it can be an arduous task to find quality media storage, and I can assure the curious consumer that price is no indication of quality. These Windowpane shelves, however, retail for around $150 and I've been reasonably pleased with them. The finish is very nice, it's nearly black with a subtle woodtone, and the unit as a whole just looks great. The sliding glass doors work well, though items placed in the middle where the two doors intersect are difficult to access. The one major quality complaint is that the shelves will slightly bow over time, especially if they're used to hold television DVD sets (which I do). Most media storage units are actually designed with compact discs in mind, so if you stock them with DVDs you find the bottom shelf will be too small to stand the DVDs up and you'll have to lay them on their sides. This one, however, holds all of the DVDs perfectly upright as it's supposed to. I agree with the reviewer here that it's a good idea to buy locally if possible, the packaging isn't very protective. Assembly time will be approximately an hour, possibly shorter if you're accustomed to assembling DIY furniture. As always, buyer beware! I bought another media storage unit from Atlantic thinking it would be the same quality as this one, and it most certainly was not (the unit I refer to is the Atlantic Drawbridge - Media storage cassette, VHS, DVD, CD, you can read my review of that piece of trash by following the link). 46 of 50 people found the following review helpful. Probably good, but shipped poorly By C. Ayres The one star in this review is for the custome service we dealt with in getting our money back. I've seen this cabinet whole and complete (we got one just like it from a different retailer that ran out after our purchase) and it is beautiful and functional. When we ordered it from Amazon.com independent retailer, it was a whole other story. The cabinet was shipped in pieces, which wasn't a problem as it is easy to put together. The problem was it was shipped in one box with the doors touching the outside edges of the box. If they would have shipped this in its orginal box inside another box with a bit of packing, there would not have been a problem. The first time we got it, the glass was damaged as was the doors. The second time, the glass was intact, but the doors were again damaged. The problem was that the line along the bottom and top of the doors that fits into the grooves so the doors slide back and forth were split and cracked making the items unrepairable. The wood is a composit and fragile. The main casing was also scratched and dented, again from the lack of proper packing. In conclusion, if you can find this cabinet locally, go for it --its very nice. If you need to order it from anywhere, I would be wary and probably shy away from it. Beautiful, though overpriced By Val I got this from another store, where I had gift certificates, but still, the price could be better. It is certainly worthy of 5 stars though, in every other regard. We bought a 46" LCD and it looks perfect on this stand. I would not recommend anything over 47" or anything under 42" for a TV. The stand is a nice black, and while not all wood, it LOOKS very nice, and expensive. We had no defective pieces upon recieiving it, and assembly took about an hour and a half, with my husband doing 99% of it by himself. The glass doors add a really nice touch and the little round floral emblem on the bottom really adds to the look of it. It is very classy and traditional, but with a touch of modern with the clean black color. The height of it is really nice too, not too tall, not too short.
