An MDF backer provides component ventilation and cable management for each compartment. The molded front kicker further enhances the classic appearance of this product. The pictures look good but doesn't look too sturdy and it is particle board covered in what seems to be contact paper like what you would put in your cabinet drawers! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. nice for the price By QuickDraw This console is darker than the picture and holds my 55" plasma fine. My wife says it is pretty. I did have an issue with one of the doors, the holes for the hinges were in the wrong place. The manufacutrer sent me a replacement one that was correct. Good looking tv console By Seymoreholes This TV console exceeded my expectations with how it looks and the sturdiness however the finish is literally paper thin. If you look at it the wrong way it will scratch and show very light color wood underneath. To deal with this I purchased a brown felt tip marker and it seems to hide the blemishes from the naked eye. For the price I would still buy this again. As long as you aren't expecting solid wood you can't go wrong. I even have 2 small children that like to abuse furniture. The assembly wasn't bad, took about 1 hour and everything fit together snugly. I had to add a fan to one of the cabinets that I keep my HTPC in to keep things cool but being that the backing is wood and not cardboard this was easily accomplished with a jigsaw and a dremel.
